A Broth for Two Parents

Diane Fine, Plattsburgh, NY

A Broth for Two Parents is published by the Moonkosh Press, in collaboration with the poet Eli Goldblatt and photographer Sue Lezon. It is letterpress printed on Alcantara handmade paper and Hahnemühle Bugra. The images, shot in Egypt by Lezon, are hand-wiped photo-polymer intaglio prints. The binding is a variation on Reg Beattie's "Islamic Box/Book." Created in 2006 in an edition of 30.

Diane Fine works primarily in two related art media: printmaking and the book arts. She is inspired by printmaking techniques that enable her to create many and varied kinds of surfaces and marks. The fact that most printmaking occurs in multiples is important to Fine as it enables her to share her work more widely and in varied contexts. Collaboration with fellow artists, part of the tradition of printmaking and the book arts, has been an essential part of her learning process and production.

Fine is currently professor of art at Plattsburgh State University of New York where she teaches printmaking and book arts. She received her BFA from Syracuse University and her MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She exhibits regularly and her work is represented in a number of public and private collections including The New York Public Library, the Yale University Art Gallery, the Brooklyn Museum Library, and Harvard University's Houghton Library.
