Gutenberg Bible Leaf

Gutenberg Bible leaf

The Gutenberg Bible was the first book printed in Europe using the technique of movable metal type. This leaf contains Psalm 23. Although it was printed, Gutenberg was worried about the reception of his Bible and designed it with illuminated letters and decorations that were done by hand so that it resembled a manuscript.
