Historical Note

The Department of Psychology at Syracuse University is part of the College of Arts and Sciences, the first and largest college at the university. In 1909, the department found a home in Bowne Hall which was built to house biological sciences, chemistry, geography, and psychology. The department now resides in Huntington Hall.

The Department of Psychology covers four areas of study within the field of psychology: clinical health, cognitive, school, and social.

The Syracuse University Department of Psychology Records spans from 1956 to 2008 and consists of faculty files, meeting minutes, financial records, subject data files, and other administrative files. Many of the administrative files are related to the accreditation of various programs, including evaluations, reviews, annual reports, and site visits.

School, college and department records are restricted to the office of origin for 30 years. Faculty personnel files are restricted for 80 years from date of separation from the University. Requests to use restricted records must be obtained in writing from the office of origin.
