Biography

Robert Stanley Pickett (1931- ) was a professor of child and family studies at Syracuse University.

Pickett was born in Maine on September 12, 1931. He earned his bachelor of science in education from Gorham State Teachers College (now the University of Southern Maine) in 1953, his masters at Harvard University in 1957, and his Ph.D. at Syracuse University in 1963. Between 1962 and 1964 he taught at Clarkson College of Technology. Syracuse University's College of Home Economics hired Pickett as one of its first male professors in 1964. He taught child and family studies for over thirty years at Syracuse. In 1995 he served as interim director of Hendricks Chapel for two years. He is now professor emeritus of child and family studies.


Scope and Content Note

This collection comprises 25 audio reels dealing mainly with Pickett's focus on child and family studies. They are 1/4 inch audio tapes and one audio cassette. A number of them are unidentified.
