The Syracuse University Photo & Imaging Center (previously known as The Photo Center) began taking and collecting photographs of the grounds, campus life, and University community in 1949 and continues to do so today.
The Photo & Imaging Center provides still photography services ranging from black-and-white and color film processing to slide processing and mounting. Photographers from the Center also attend University functions and events.
The collection contains over 50,000 images of University life, campus grounds, and events from 1949 to the present day. Materials comprise 4x5 single negatives and their corresponding prints, 35mm negatives and contact sheets, and CD-Rs of digital images.
Some of the photographs from this collection are also available as digital files. Please contact the archivist for access.

Please note that the collection is housed off-site, and advance notice is required to allow time to have the materials brought to the Reading Room on campus.

Acquisition Information
The Photo & Imaging Center transferred a large amount of material to the University Archives in 1976 and in 1992. For the past several years, the University Archives has continuously received material from the Photo & Imaging Center.
Most of the materials in the collection are organized chronologically.
