Biography

Jack F. Christie (1923-2008) graduated from the Syracuse University School of Journalism, cum laude, with a degree in Radio-Television in 1950. He transferred from a Midwestern school in 1948 and attended Syracuse University from 1948-1950. At Syracuse University, Christie worked as a staff member for the campus’ Radio and Television Center. As a member of the national honorary society Alpha Epsilon Rho (AER), Beta Chapter, he was awarded in 1950 for his professional attitude and dedication to reporting and broadcasting news on WAER.

Upon graduation, Christie worked in a variety of news-related roles over the next five years, including positions at WWHG, Hornell, and the Transradio Press, as well as working in the production departments for several radio and televisions programs. He then became the News Director of WJLK in Asbury Park, NJ, remaining in this position until 1955. Afterwards, Christie was appointed the News Director for the Democratic National Committee (DNC). In this role, he coordinated appearances of Democratic representatives, distributed films, and assisted in public relations work for the DNC Chairman. He dedicated his life to broadcasting.
