Sophie Schneider Etchings

An of the ccollection at Syracuse University

Finding aid created by: MRC
Date: 2 Feb 2018

Biographical History

Nothing is known of the artist who created these etchings, other than her name as it appears on the art. There is a Sophie Schneider (1866-1942) who was a German painter and artist. However, as she would have been only 14 years old at the time these were made, it seems unlikely that these are her work.

Scope and Contents of the Collection

The Sophie Schneider Etchings consists of four chine collé etchings on cream-colored paper. All four are signed and inscribed in English by Sophie Schneider to Genie Camp.
