John Vassos
 

The illustrator and designer John Vassos was born in 1898 at the foot of Mount Olympus in Greece, Romania, or Turkey, depending on which of his autobiographical sketches one believes. Vassos immigrated to the United States in 1918. He died in Norwalk, Connecticut, on 6 December 1985. [Bio] | [View Vassos Gallery]

 
     
William Lescaze
  The architect William Lescaze was born in Geneva, Switzerland, on 27 March 1896. Lescaze immigrated to the United States in 1920 and became an American citizen on 18 March 1929. He died in New York City on 9 February 1969. [Bio] | [View Lescaze Gallery]  
     
Adolph Bolm
  The dancer and choreographer Adolph Bolm was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1884. He immigrated to the United States in 1916 while on tour with Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes and became a U.S. citizen in 1917. Bolm died in Hollywood, California, in 1951. [Bio] | [View Bolm Gallery]  
     
Louis Lozowick
  The painter, printmaker, and author Louis Lozowick was born in Ludvinovka, Russia (now in the Ukraine), in 1892.
