  • Reservation details:
    • First come, first served. There is a waiting list.
    • Reserved for use by faculty and Syracuse University doctoral candidates matriculated in a PhD or professional doctoral program with a status of ABD (all but dissertation).
    • Use the Long-term Study Room Application/Renewal Form to apply for these rooms.

Private Study Rooms - Short Term Use

  • Reservation type: First come, first served
  • Reservation details:
    • Reserved for use by individual faculty, graduate students, and visiting researchers. There are also a limited number of private study rooms available for undergraduate students.
    • Study Rooms are available for 3-hour use on a first-come, first-served basis during the 1st Floor Circulation desk hours.
    • Study room keys may be checked out from the 1st Floor Circulation desk during that desk’s service hours.

Quiet Floors: 2nd, 4th, and 5th Floors

  • Location: 2nd, 4th, and 5th floors of Bird Library
  • Capacity: Varies
  • The entire 2nd floor, including the computer area on the east side of the building, the 4th floor and the 5th floor have all been designated as quiet study areas. Conversation is only permitted in the group study rooms on the upper floors.

Quiet Reading Room

Team Rooms

  • Equipment: Standard set-up includes conference table and chairs and Internet connection.

  • Reservation details:
    • Room availability begins when the floors open and ends one hour before the closing of the floor.
    • Room keys are checked out at the 1st Floor Circulation desk.
    • Advance reservation requests must be made through the Libraries and processed at least 24 hours prior to the requested reservation time.
    • Rooms may be reserved for academic purposes.
    • Priority is given to 1) Scheduled Users 2) Unscheduled groups 3) Individuals.
    • Please go to the Room Reservation Form to schedule the room.

Team Rooms with Technology

  • Equipment:
    • Each room includes a 46" LCD display and desktop PC with mouse and keyboard. Web conferencing bundles, practice presentation bundles, wireless keyboards and mice must be checked out at the 1st Floor Circulation desk.
    • Loaner Technology is available for use in the Team Rooms with Technology.

    • Room availability begins when the floors open and ends one hour before the closing of the floor.
    • A reservation form must be submitted for every use of the Team Room in advance. 
    • Room keys are checked out at the 1st Floor Circulation desk.
    • Priority is given to 1) scheduled users 2) unscheduled groups 3) individuals.

    First-come, First-served

    • Team rooms are also available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please go to the Circulation desk on the 1st floor of Bird Library to see if rooms are available.

    Advance Reservations

    • Advance reservation requests for Rooms 303, 318, 326 should be made through the Registrar's Office.
    • Advance reservation requests for Rooms 341, 418, 441 must be made through the Libraries and processed at least 24 hours prior to the requested reservation time. 
    • Please go to the Team Room with Technology Form to request a room.
