HOW TO FIND BOOKS AND OTHER SOURCES
Catalog – This is what you use to find out if the Library owns a particular book, journal, video or other type of media. You can search by keyword, author (last name first), title, or subject heading. Remember to use your subject headings to find more relevant resources on a topic.
FIND E-JOURNALS
This is what you use to find out if the library owns a journal title (NOT AN ARTICLE!) in electronic format.
These are electronic indexes that you can search to locate journal
articles, books, and book chapters. To access any of the databases
from off campus, you will be prompted for a user name and password.
Your user name is your ten digit ID # (make sure that you
use all ten digits) and your password is your last name in lower-case
letters. For additional assistance with this, please go
to the instructions
for remote access to databases.

For Your Information
Library Cafe - The Library's new Cafe is located on the first floor level of Bird Library.
Service Desk Area - On the first floor of Bird library, there is a service desk area made up of about five stations. These stations are staffed with SU Library personnel where you can go to; charge out or return library books, charge out and return reserve, Interlibrary loan, or off-site storage materials. At these service desks, you can also inquire about your status if you are blocked for any reason, and of course, you can go to these service desks if you have a research question.
Self-Checkout Station - You may charge out books yourself at the self-charging station located on the 1st floor of Bird Library opposite from the service desk stations. If you like an orientation in using the station or if you have problems, please don't hesitate to enquire at any of the service desks on the 1st floor.
Workstations - There are workstations throughout Bird Library where SU students can access not only the Library's website and the internet, but they will also have access to other software such as Microsoft office, Excel, etc. Students may access these terminals through their Net ID's and passwords. Any printing done through these Net ID workstations are free provided the students are within their 500 page limit of printing established by the University Information Technology Services.
