Tests and Measures
Many test makers and publishers restrict access of their tests to qualified professionals. Therefore, Syracuse University Library does not collect test instruments on a systematic basis. However, we do have some noncommercial tests in books, journals, and the Tests in Microfiche collection on microfiche.
- HAPI -Health and Psychosocial Instruments
Please Note: The full-text of the instruments are not included in the database
Description: Provides access to information on measurement instruments (i.e., questionnaires, interview schedules, checklists, index measures, coding schemes/manuals, rating scales, projective techniques, vignettes/scenarios, tests) in the health fields, psychosocial sciences, organizational behavior, and library and information science.
- You can search to see if the Library has the "Source" listed for an instrument. The "Source" may be a book, article or other format. The "Source" may include the full text of the instrument, especially if the "Source Code" says "Primary Source."
- Following are some sources you can use to find out what book or journal a particular test is located in. You may also search for a topic or keyword in these sources.
Important: After you search for citations to tests using the links above, check SU Library's Catalog to see if the Library has the book or journal in which your test is located. Enter the title of the book or journal into the Catalog. Click on Title or Journal Title. Click Search. (For journals, also check Find E-journals.)
If we do not have a book of tests you are looking for, please contact Adina Mulliken to see if the Library can purchase it. Because purchasing it takes some time, you generally should also order it through Interlibrary Loan, or search for another test if you have a very short time frame.
- If you prefer to browse through books of tests, you may start with the following sources:

- ETS Test Collection Database will let you search by topic or for a particular test. Some of these tests (those that say "Availability: Tests in microfiche") are available in the Library on microfiche, which you can print out. The Library has Tests in Microfiche from 1975-1991. Some tests in the database are listed as available in a journal. The journal article usually contains items from the test, but not the entire test. For tests in this database that are not available on microfiche or in a journal, it may be necessary to contact the author and/or purchase the test to obtain a copy of it.
