POPLINE [JHUCCP] -- Index with abstracts of the worldwide literature on population, family planning, and related health issues. POPLINE is maintained by the Population Information Program at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health. Contains over 290,000 records.

**PsycINFO: Psychological Abstracts (1887-present) [Ebsco] -- International literature in psychology and related behavioral and social sciences, including psychiatry, sociology, anthropology, education, pharmacology, and linguistics. 1887 - present; updated monthly. 

PsycARTICLES [Ebsco]-- Provides full text access, citations and abstracts to articles from journals published by APA, the APA Educational Publishing Foundation, the Canadian Psychological Association and Hogrefe & Huber. Coverage for most journals begins with 1985, others have only more recent years. Covers general psychology and specialized basic, applied, clinical, and theoretical research in psychology in areas including animal behavior, cognition, memory, neuroscience, perception, physiological psychology, psycholinguistics, psychometrics, social and personality psychology.

PsychiatryOnline [ American Psychiatric Publishing, Inc. ] -- Offers online access to DSM-IV-TR and The American Journal of Psychiatry plus other trusted references for diagnosis, treatment, research, professional development, and lifelong learning.

Social Sciences Abstracts [H. W. Wilson] -- Index with abstracts to more than 400 international, English-language periodicals. Indexing from February 1983 to the present. Abstracts from January 1994. Updated monthly.

**Social Services Abstracts [Cambridge] -- Bibliographic coverage of current research focused on social work, human services, and related areas, including social welfare, social policy, and community development. The database abstracts and indexes over 1,500 serials publications and includes abstracts of journal articles and dissertations, and citations to book reviews.

Social Work Abstracts [Ovid] -- Includes The Register of Clinical Social Workers; updated semiannually
Social Work Abstracts contains information on social work and human services from 1977 to present. Provides coverage of more than 450 journals.
The Register of Clinical Social Workers is a directory of clinical social workers in the United States. It contains information such as name, address, telephone number, employer, education, and employment history as well as type of practice and licensing information.

Social Work Abstracts [Ebsco] --More than 26,000 records, spanning 1977 to the present, from social work and other related journals on topics such as homelessness, AIDS, child and family welfare, aging, substance abuse, legislation, community organization, and more. NASW Clinical Register database contains listing of registered social workers, including their address and phone numbers, education and specialization, type of practice and license information.

Sociological Abstracts [Cambridge] -- Comprehensive sociology database; also includes some social work and social sciences. Covers 1963 to the present; updated six times per year.

AgeLine [Ebsco] -- Provides coverage of social gerontology--the study of aging in social, psychological, health-related, and economic contexts. 1978+ with selected coverage back to 1966; updated bimonthly.

Education Full Text [H.W. Wilson] -- Index of more than 400 English-language education journals and yearbooks. Indexing from June 1983 to the present, abstracts from August 1994; updated monthly.

ERIC [FirstSearch] -- Useful for social work in educational settings and any topics pertaining to children. Includes journal articles, books, theses, curriculi, conference papers, standards and guidelines. Covers 1966 to the present; updated monthly.

 

Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice Abstracts [Cambridge] -- Criminal Justice Abstracts provides comprehensive coverage of the major journals in criminology and related disciplines, extensive coverage of books, and unparalleled access to reports from government and nongovernmental agencies. For each document, an informative summary of the findings, methodology, and conclusions is provided. Access Note: One simultaneous user only.

NCJRS [U.S. Department of Justice] -- The NCJRS (National Criminal Justice Reference Service) database covers all aspects of law enforcement and criminal justice including: police; courts; corrections; juvenile justice; community crime prevention; criminal justice system; fraud, waste, and abuse in government programs. Cited documents include both U.S. and international research reports, published papers, books, articles, and audio-visual presentations. Topic coverage ranges from preliminary research to detailed descriptions of successful programs.

 

Ethnic Groups

Black Studies Center [Proquest] -- Black Studies Center is a cross-searchable gateway to Black Studies including scholarly essays, recent periodicals, historical newspaper articles, literature, political science, sociology, philosophy, and religion and more.

Chicano Database [First Search] -- Identifies all types of material on Mexican-American topics and about Chicanos. Updated quarterly, the Chicano Database covers at least 1967 to the present. Records added since 1992 have expanded its scope to include the broader Latino experience, including Puerto Ricans, Cuban Americans, and Central American immigrants.

HAPI-Hispanic American Periodicals Index [UCLA] -- Bibliographic citations to articles, book reviews, documents, original literary works, and other materials appearing in more than 400 key social science and humanities journals published throughout the world since 1970. Worldwide information about Central and South America, Mexico, the Caribbean basin, the US-Mexico border region, and Hispanics in the United States.

HRAF Collection of Ethnography [University of Michigan] -- The Collection of Ethnography is a full-text cultural database. As of 2000, it covered all aspects of cultural and social life for 78 selected cultures from around the world. Topics range from family relationships to religious practices to ideas about gender. Updated annually.

International Index to Black Periodicals [Chadwyck-Healy] -- Fulltext and multidisciplinary database includes over 150 international scholarly and popular periodicals in Black studies.

Race Relations Abstracts [EBSCO] -- Current information in the area of race relations. Issues covered include discrimination, education, employment, health, politics, law and legislation. 2000 to the present.

 

Gender

Contemporary Women's Issues [FirstSearch] -- Provides full text access to global information on women from over 150 countries, bringing together such disciplines as sociology, psychology, health, education and human rights. Covers 1992 - present; updated biweekly.

LGBT Life (Formerly GLBT Life) [Ebscohost] -- LGBT Life covers worldwide literature regarding gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues. It contains indexing and abstracts for more than 80 LGBT-specific core periodicals, with fulltext access for 50 of these titles. The database includes current coverage of these sources, as well as backfiles for key publications.

Studies on Women and Gender Abstracts [Informaworld] -- Coverage includes education, employment, women in the family and community, medicine and health, female sex and gender role socialization, social policy, the social psychology of women, female culture, media treatment of women, biography, literary criticism and historical studies. Where possible, abstracts are linked to full text. Covers 1995 - present.

Women's Resources International [BiblioLine] -- Covers all aspects of women's studies and feminism. International in scope. Includes English-language journals, books, videos, audiocassettes, etc. Covers 1972-present; updated semiannually.

 

Health

CINAHL [EBSCO] -- Contains abstracts to articles published in more than 950 English-language nursing and allied health journals as well as virtually all publications of the American Nurses' Association and the National League for Nursing; covers 1982-present.

Health and Wellness Resource Center [Gale/ New York State] -- Provides instant access to carefully compiled and trusted medical reference materials. Includes nearly 400 health/medical journals, hundreds of pamphlets, over 700 health-related videos from partner Healthology, Inc., and articles from 2,200 general interest publications in addition to a broad collection of Thomson Gale reference titles. Material contained in this Resource Center is intended for informational purposes only.

Lexis/Nexis Academic Universe- General Medical & Health Topics [Lexis-Nexis Universe] -- Searches the full-text of medical journals and newsletters providing information on drug interactions, cancer, poison, disease, trauma, and medical administration.

MEDLINE [FirstSearch] --Index to more than 3,500 International journals covering all areas of medicine. 1985 to the present; updated monthly.

MedlinePlus [National Library of Medicine] -- From the National Library of Medicine, this freely available resource provides authoritative health information geared to both health professionals and consumers. It includes extensive information on more than 650 diseases and conditions, as well as lists of hospitals and physicians, a medical dictionary, a medical encyclopedia, information on prescription and nonprescription drugs, and links to thousands of clinical trials. There are also over 165 interactive health tutorials. Updated daily.

PubMed [U.S. Government] -- PubMed, a service of the National Library of Medicine, provides access to over 11 million MEDLINE citations back to the mid-1960's and additional life science journals.

CogPrints [University of Southhampton] -- Papers related to the study of cognition, including such areas as psychology, neuroscience, linguistics, many areas of computer science, philosophy, biology, medicine, and anthropology.

Public Affairs

CQ Researcher  [CQ] -- An encyclopedia addressing public policy issues. Over 44 reports are released each year, covering legislative action in areas ranging from social and teen issues to environment, health and nutrition, education, international affairs, economics and science and technology. Each report focuses on a single topic and features concise background discussion and chronologies, overviews of the current situation, pro and con commentary, as well as online links to relevant organizations, and a lengthy bibliography of related books and articles. Covers 1923-present.

CQ Weekly [CQ] -- A week by week non-partisan report on activity within the United States Congress. Discusses issues about to be addressed by Congress, summaries of the previous week's legislative events, status of bills pending before the House and Senate, committee and floor activity, and outcomes of roll call votes. Searchable by date, topic, latest votes. Covers 1983- present.

PAIS International [Cambridge] -- Provides indexing and abstracting of articles, books, conference proceedings, government documents, book chapters, and statistical directories about public affairs.
