Institute
The Lunar and Planetary Institute is
a focus for academic participation in studies of the current state,
evolution, and formation of the solar system. The Institute is housed
in the USRA Center for Advanced Space Studies (CASS), and includes
a computing center, extensive collections of lunar and planetary data,
an image-processing facility, a scientific visualization facility,
an extensive library, publishing services, and facilities for workshops
and conferences.

Lunar Orbiter Photographic Atlas of the Moon.
This is a digital edition of David E.
Bowker and J. Kenrick Hughes' Lunar Orbiter Photographic Atlas of
the Moon with all 675 plates from their 1971 book. Searchable in many
ways, including feature name, photo number, and coordinate. You can
also browse in the Consolidated Lunar Atlas.

You can also use the provided calculator to build an accurate scale

NED is a database of about 750,000 objects
with bibliographic references and basic data.

This version of Charles Messier's Catalogue
of Nebulae and Star Clusters contains photographic records of
the 110 different deep sky objects along with the history of each
discovery and the origin of the object's name.

This is an interactive planetarium of
the Web. You can produce maps in the forms described below for any
time and date, viewpoint, and observing location.

for monitoring the sun-earth relationship using current space weather
conditions and NASA news headlines. The topics include solar storms,
solar flares, auroras, solar winds, sunspots, and interplanetary magnetic
fields. There are also forecasts.

Heidelberg, this bibliographic service provides citations to literature
from "the remote past until the middle of the year 2000." Very good
for historical astronomy research.

Begun in 1995, this resource was created
on behalf of the working group for the history of astronomy in the
Astronomische Gesellschaft. Since March 1998 this site is also maintained
on behalf of Commission 41 (History of Astronomy) of the International
Astronomical Union. There are many useful links, including Astronomer
Obituaries. You can also subscribe to an electronic newsletter on
the history of astronomy.
