Bibliographic database that cumulates citations to Art index (1984-present)

Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals

Indexes more than 2,000 periodicals published worldwide on archaeology, city planning, interior design, and historic preservation, as well as architecture. Coverage is from the 1930s (with selective coverage dating back to the 1860s) to the present.

Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA)

Covering European and American art from late antiquity to the present, BHA indexes and abstracts art-related books, conference proceedings, dissertations, exhibition and dealer's catalogs, and articles from more than 2,500 periodicals. Updated quarterly. Combines entries from the print indexes RILA (1975-1989) and Repertoire d'art et d'archeologie (1973-1989) and extends their coverage from then until the present.

Repertoire d'art et d'archeologie

For articles prior to 1973 you will need to use this print index to supplement the coverage of BHA. There are volumes covering 1910-1963 and 1965-1989 available in the Fine Arts Index carrels on the 4th floor of E.S. Bird Library.

HUMANITIES:

Arts and Humanities Search

Indexes articles from arts and humanities journals plus relevant articles from over 5,000 social science and science journals. Includes additional records providing the preferred form of cited authors' names.

British Humanities Index

An international abstracting and indexing tool for research in the humanities, BHI indexes over 320 internationally respected humanities journals and weekly magazines published in the UK and other English speaking countries, as well as quality newspapers published in the UK.

FRANCIS

FRANCIS covers a wide range of multilingual, multidisciplinary information in the humanities (67%), social sciences (30%), and economics (3%). FRANCIS is strong in religion, the history of art, and literature, with particular emphasis on current trends in European and world literature. Updated monthly, FRANCIS covers 1984 to the present.

Humanities Abstracts

Index and abstracts to 465 periodicals in archaeology, art, classics, film, folklore, journalism, linguistics, music, the performing arts, philosophy, religion, world history, and world literature. Indexing from February 1984 to the present, abstracts from March 1994. Updated monthly.

LITERATURE:

EEBO: Early English Books Onlne

Full text of over 125,000 titles listed in Pollard & Redgrave's Short-Title Catalogue (1475-1640), Wing's Short-Title Catalogue (1641-1700), and the Thomason Tracts (1640-1661). Among the thousands of titles featured in EEBO are works by Malory, Bacon, More, Erasmus, Boyle, Newton, Galileo; musical exercises by Henry Purcell and novels by Aphra Behn; prayer books, pamphlets, and proclamations; almanacs, calendars, and many other primary sources.

English Short Title Catalog

Index to English or English-language letterpress materials published before 1801. Contains records for items of all types published in Great Britain or its colonies or in English from 1473 to 1800. Updated daily.

Patrologia Latina

Contains 221 volumes and represents a complete electronic version of the first edition of Jacques-Paul Migne's Patrologia Latina (1844-1855 and 1862-1865).

Women Writers Online

These SGML encoded texts cover a period from 1400 to 1850 and can be browsed, searched, and analyzed.
Those studying the Renaissance may be particularly interested in Renaissance Women Online, a collection of 100 Renaissance texts from the Women Writers Online collection, accompanied by contextual and topical essays.

MUSIC:

Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians

A thoroughly revised and updated 2nd edition of the primary music dictionary-encyclopedia in the English language. It includes over 29,000 articles, 5623 of them new, and covers the entire spectrum of music with biographies, terminology, history, genres and links to illustrations.

International Index to Music Periodicals

IIMP draws its current content from 370 international music periodicals from over 20 countries. IIMP also includes retrospective coverage from over 185 periodicals dating back as far as 1874. Included in the current and retrospective titles are 29 complete-run titles, from inception to the present (or final) issue, and many partial-run titles. IIMP covers nearly all aspects of the world of music, from the most scholarly studies to the latest crazes.

PHILOSOPHY AND RELIGION:

ATLA Religion

Citations from international titles and 13,000 multi-author works in and related to the field of religion. It also includes a full range of index citations to journal articles, essays in multi-author works, book reviews, and Doctor of Ministry projects from ATLA's print indexes: Religion Index One (RIO), Religion Index Two (RIT), and Index to Book Reviews in Religion (IBRR). Coverage is from 1949 to the present (not all publications begin in 1949); updated biannually.

Philosopher's Index

Indexing and abstracts from books and journals of philosophy and related fields. It covers the areas of ethics, aesthetics, social philosophy, political philosophy, epistemology, and metaphysic logic as well as material on the philosophy of law, religion, science, history, education, and language.
