Using EndNote Bibliographic Software to Connect to Summit

EndNote comes with predefined Connection Files to remote bibliographic databases. To add access to Syracuse University Library's SUMMIT system, please download the following files (For Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP users only.):

• SUMMIT (a long search attributes templet)
• SUMMIT-lc (a search attributes templet based on Library of Congress's configuration file)

Instructions:
1. Use the right mouse button to click on the above link and choose "Save Link As..." to save the file to your machine.
2 .Place the file in EndNotes' default folder for other Connection Files:

C:\Program Files\EndNote\Connections\

3. Open EndNotes.
4. Pull down the File menu.
5. Select Connection Files --> Open Connection Manager ....
6. Click the box in front of the SUMMIT and SUMMIT-lc

7. Now you can pull down the File menu, choose Connect --> SUMMIT (or SUMMIT-lc) to search the SU Library Catalog using the Z39.50 protocol.
