Work in groups of two or more to find information about one of the topics on the attached list (or another topic of interest). Use any computer in the Library – either in the Electronic Training Center (room 046) or computers in the public areas (from the lower level to the fifth floor). For each step below, one team member will do the searching (the “searcher”), while the other team member records the information found (the “recorder”). Then, team members will switch roles, so that each person has a chance to search and record for each step.
First thing you need to know is how to find Help. Look for the Little Question mark in an oval. ![]()

Brainstorming Search Terms
No matter where you search, you will need to identify the main concepts or keywords. These are generally nouns.

SUMMIT is the online catalog of the SU Library. It

2. FIND ARTICLES
Use Databases…for citations to and sometimes fulltext
of articles and other materials.
- From home page, click on “Find Articles.”
- Click on a subject to find databases with resources related to a particular area.
- To find specific databases, click on the first letter under “Databases by Title,” or type the name in the search box entitled “search database list.”
Online databases at SU Library link you to articles in newspapers, scholarly journals, popular magazines and trade publications. (Specialized databases include collections of company reports, images, music, government publications,
and more.) Sometimes a database will offer you the whole article online, while other times, it will provide information about the article for you to find on your own.

*Expanded Academic ASAP: Fulltext articles and images from scholarly journals, magazines, and newspapers. Spans all academic disciplines from arts and humanities to social sciences, science, and technology.
*ProQuest Research Library: Articles from popular magazines, business periodicals, and academic publications, plus articles from The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Topics include the arts, business, children, education, health, humanities, international, law, military, multicultural, psychology, sciences, social sciences and women's interests.
*Wilson Full Text (OmniFile): Includes US and international professional publications,academic journals, and trade magazines.
