The Social Science Electronic Data Library (SSEDL) from Sociometrics Corp. is a collection of eight data archives:

Marriage and Family
- Marital Instability Over the Life Course Series The purpose of the series was to identify the causes of marital instability throughout the life course. Measures were developed to predict marital instability and divorce and to assess marital quality.
- National Survey of Families and Households "A considerable amount of life-history information was collected, including: the respondent's family living arrangements in childhood, departures and returns to the parental home, and histories of marriage, cohabitation, education, fertility, and employment. The design permits the detailed description of past and current living arrangements and other characteristics and experiences, as well as the analysis of the consequences of earlier patterns on current states, marital and parenting relationships, kin contact, and economic and psychological well-being. "
- National Survey of Family Growth "Provide reliable national data on marriage, divorce, contraception, infertility, and the health of women and infants in the United States."
- Marriage and Divorce Statistics Information on the total numbers and rates of marriages and divorces at the national and State levels.
- Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study "Also called "The Survey of New Parents," follows a birth cohort of (mostly) unwed parents and their children over a five-year period. The study is designed to provide new information on the capabilities and relationships of unwed parents, as well as the effects of policies on family formation and child wellbeing."
Youth
- Monitoring the Future Annual surveys were designed to explore changes in important values, behaviors, and lifestyle orientations of contemporary American youth.
Gerontology
- National Archive of Computerized Data on Aging NACDA acquires and preserves data relevant to gerontological research, processing as needed to promote effective research use, disseminates them to researchers, and facilitates their use.
- National Nursing Home Survey Series a nationwide sample survey of nursing homes and their residents and discharges, is designed to provide comprehensive national data on a continuing basis to those who establish standards for and plan, provide, and assess long-term care services.
- RAND Aging Studies in the Developing World Series This series was designed by RAND and the surveys were carried out by RAND in collaboration with others in three developing nations: Guatemala, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The surveys were undertaken to investigate topic areas such as the health of women and children, fertility, family structure, economic status, and community life in these nations. The data were collected at the household, individual, and community level.
- Retirement History Longitudinal Survey Series The main purpose of the study was to assess the Social Security Program's provisions for retired workers, not only for recording the socioeconomic situation of Social Security beneficiaries, but also to aid policymakers in planning program changes.
Race and Ethnicity
- National Survey of Black Americans Series The series was developed to address the limitations in the existing research literature on the study of Black Americans. It seeks to provide an appropriate theoretical and empirical approach to concepts, measures, and methods in the study of Black Americans.
- Midlife Development in the United States (MIDUS): Survey of Minority Groups [Chicago and New York City], 1995-1996 This survey of minority groups was part of a larger project to investigate the patterns, predictors, and consequences of midlife development in the areas of physical health, psychological well-being, and social responsibility. Conducted in Chicago and New York City, the survey was designed to assess the well-being of middle-aged, urban, ethnic minority adults living in both hyper-segregated neighborhoods and in areas with lower concentrations of minorities.
- Impact of Immigration on Ethnic-Specific Violence in Miami, Florida, 1997 This study sought to examine the violent victimization rate and the factors influencing ethnic-specific rates of violence in the city of Miami.
Women's Studies
- Women in Development Series The aim of this data series was to provide a reliable, up-to-date, accessible database on women in development which can illuminate the discrepancies in the roles and status of women against those of men throughout the world in order to serve as a basis for the promotion of both intranational and international parity between the sexes.
Migration
- Immigrants Admitted to the United States Series Data are furnished on the demographic characteristics of two types of immigrants who were granted legal permanent residence in the United States: New Arrivals and Adjustments.
- Mexican Migration Project "The MMP database is the result of an ongoing multidisciplinary study of Mexican Migration to the United States. It contains data gathered since 1982 in surveys administered every year in Mexico and the United States. After surveys are completed in the field, the information contained therein is input into computer format, coded, examined, and then separated into five primary data files, each providing a unique perspective of Mexican migrants, their families, and their experiences."
- Latin American Migration Project "An ethnosurvey focusing on the migration process is at its core. In addition to basic demographic data, the survey gathers information on family composition, fertility, infant mortality, marital history of the household head, labor history of the household head and his/her spouse, and ownership history of properties and businesses. Furthermore, detailed data on internal migration, migration to the mainland US, and multiple aspects of key US trips (work experience, income, social networks, remittances, welfare use, etc.) are also collected."
- National Migration Study in Thailand
- Americans' Use of Time Series contain single-day time personal diary, mail-back, and telephone interview data. The diaries consist of primary and secondary single-day activities. The files contain data on the estimates of daily time use by Americans, comprising work and nonwork leisure activities, as well as sociodemographic data.
- Class Structure and Class Consciousness: Merged Multi-Nation File Data collected in these surveys measure how such social concepts as authority, autonomy, and hierarchy relate to the social, economic, and occupational positions of individuals, thus providing a systematic means for analyzing social class structure.
- Detroit Area Studies Series The purpose of these surveys is to provide practical social research training for graduate students and reliable data on the Greater Detroit community. Each survey probes a different aspect of personal and public life, economic and political behavior, political attitudes, professional and family life, and living experiences in the Detroit metropolitan area.
- Survey of Program Dynamics (SPD) Series The Survey of Program Dynamics (SPD) series was developed by the United States Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census in response to the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 that directed the Census Bureau to collect data necessary to evaluate the impact of the law from households previously interviewed in the 1992 and 1993 Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) panels.
