Study and Meeting Rooms in E.S. Bird Library

In addition to study tables and individual carrels throughout the building, E.S. Bird Library offers a number of study rooms and meeting rooms to accommodate your needs.

Study Rooms

Group Study Room:
Available on a first-come first-served basis during all hours in which the Library is open; seat 4-6 people.

Location: Room 554


Seminar Rooms:
Available during all hours in which the Library is open; seat 8-10 people. May be scheduled through the Registrar's Office (315-443-3756). If room is not scheduled, it may be used on a first-come first-served basis. Priority is given to 1) scheduled users 2) unscheduled groups 3) individuals. Use the Event and Room Inquiry service to check on the availability of seminar rooms.

Safire Room: Available during hours when the 6th floor is open (typically between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday). Seats up to 16 people. Houses gift collection donated by William Safire. Includes large conference table and chairs. Equipment is available upon request. Use of this room is restricted to quiet study (on a first-come first-served basis) and seminars only. Location: Room 605 (Sixth Floor)


Private carrels: Reserved for use by doctoral students and faculty members. To apply for a carrel visit the Library Business Services Office in room 014 (Lower Level), or call Nancy Cohen at 315-443-2932.

Locations: Third, fourth, and fifth floors along the perimeter.

Peter Graham Scholarly Commons (Room 114): Maximum capacity--75 people. Standard set-up includes auditorium-style seating, projection screen, lectern, and Internet connection.
