Temporary Project Manager
Summary:
The Syracuse University Library is searching for a Temporary, Project Manager. This is a two year, benefits eligible appointment.
The Project Manager will be responsible for planning logistics for the various major capital projects within the Syracuse University Library. Prepares all relevant documentation relating to the assigned project and undertakes all detailed planning, including implementation planning, of the project. The Project Manager provides a key support role and ensures that the project is well managed and implemented effectively within the library and university environments. This will be accomplished by managing the project budget, coordinating resources, monitoring project progress, coordinating multiple deadlines, and by adopting a consultative approach to identifying and achieving objectives and solving problems.
Responsibilities:
- The Project Manager is required to consult with a wide range of library and university staff, including senior university managers at a strategic level as well staff at an operational level. The Project Manager will monitor the day to day activities of the project and will review project progress on a weekly basis, to identify, develop and recommend the next stages of the project to be delivered.
- The Project Manager is required to develop and maintain a high level of understanding of the library's needs and requirements and the needs of the university, particularly the students and faculty. This means that the Project Manager will form strong and successful partnerships with a variety of groups to communicate not only the operational specifics but the overall framework for the project.
- A high level of analytical ability is required as is a good understanding of the importance of effectively communicating and ensuring smooth transitions resulting from the changes that will occur with the projects.
- Provides the operational project management in partnership with key stakeholders.
- Develop a comprehensive project plan, including target dates and deadlines.
- Co-ordinate the implementation of the project plans.
- Establish systems and processes for monitoring the progress and outcomes of the project against the plan.
- Work closely with all stakeholders to ensure the integration of the model of care.
- Initiates, develops and implements solutions for successful management of the project.
- Establish systems to capture and track data relevant to the projects.
- Work with partner agencies and key stakeholders for management of the project.
- Effectively communicates with key stakeholders of the project.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with relevant staff and all stakeholders.
- Promote effective workplace relations and teamwork to ensure optimum relations.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders to seek creative and innovative solutions to issues.
- Write reports required for the ongoing development and implementation of the project.
- Ensure effective communication strategies and program management processes.
- Ensures that all documentation and data collection is appropriately completed using the most appropriate technology.
- Ensure that all data and documentation is completed and stored correctly.
- Demonstrate strong computer skills.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience of project management, including demonstrated ability to prepare strategic and operational plans
- Experience working in collaborative environments, especially inter-organizational partnerships
- Well developed skills in the following areas:
- Project management software, word processing, presentation software, preferably Microsoft Office
- Consultation and communication
- Negotiation and problem solving
- Presentation, and report writing
- Process mapping
- Data management and analysis
- Work experience in a large library setting preferred
- Project management software, word processing, presentation software, preferably Microsoft Office

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
