How To Provide Files for Printing

Before you start working, please verify that your Color Settings in Photoshop match the following:

Photoshop Color Settings

For fastest and most accurate printing, please bring your files to the DISC on external storage media (e.g., USB drive, CD, DVD, Zip drive, iPod, etc.) with the following specifications:

Preferred file format: TIFF
Other accepted formats: PDF, EPS, PPT, DOC, XLS
Layers: Flattened (no layers)
Compression: Uncompressed (e.g., no LZW or JPG compression)
Color mode: RGB or Grayscale preferred; CMYK also accepted
Resolution: minimum 150 ppi (pixels per inch) /maximum 300 ppi

Color profile:
RGB: Adobe RGB (1998)
CMYK: U.S. Sheetfed Coated v2
Grayscale: Gray Gamma 2.2

Maximum dimension of shortest side: 35.5" [details]
Print size: 100%

Unsupported File Formats

We do not support the native file formats of Illustrator, FreeHand, AutoCAD, InDesign, or Quark. However, most of these programs provide the option to save or export in another format such as TIFF, PDF, or EPS, which we do support.

Not Recommended

Generally, we do not recommend printing JPG, GIF or any file with a resolution under 150 ppi. This includes almost anything taken from the Internet. Such files usually have a resolution between 72 and 96 ppi (pixels per inch), which is an appropriate range for screen viewing but not for printing.

If you still have questions about how to supply your file for printing, please give us a call or drop in to speak with us. We are always happy to help you!
