Classroom
Our classroom serves two purposes. It is primarily designed and used to hold classes, meetings, small lectures and guest presentations. Music Industry sound recording courses MUI 307 and MUI 308 are regularly held in this room and the recording studio.
When classes are not utilizing the room, it also serves as a display gallery of phonographs, many on permanent loan from the Edison National Historic Site in West Orange, NJ. Items on display range from an authorized replica of Edison's 1887 prototype recording machine to commercially-produced, cabinet-type consoles of the early electrical years of the late 1920s.
Adjacent to the room is a display of historical and modern recording formats, beginning with a piece of tinfoil from Edison's early lab experiments in capturing sound.
