Historical Note

The Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) was founded in 2011 as a joint partnership between Syracuse University and JPMorgan Chase & Co. The IVMF is the first of its kind not only in the education field, but in the nation as well. Founded to serve our nation’s veterans and military families, the IVMF provides educational opportunities, programs and resources for post-service life. Among the programs that IVMF offers are the Veteran Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship (V-WISE) and Operation Boots to Business: From Service to Startup. Both programs offer training and opportunities to support post-service life. Additionally, the IVMF conducts research, which is important to policy issues and the lives of veterans and their families. For the future, there are plans to build and open the new National Veterans Resource Complex (NVRC), which would become a more permanent and fitting home for the IVMF.
