Biography

Earl W. Tucker

Earl W. Tucker was born in Syracuse, New York on March 30, 1890. He attended Syracuse High School and then came to Syracuse University to study economics and sociology and earn his bachelor's degree in 1913. While working towards his master's degree in political economy, which he earned in 1914, Tucker was a graduate assistant. During his undergraduate time at the University, Tucker became involved in numerous groups on and off campus, including the fraternity Psi Upsilon and the Y.M.C.A.. He spent some time during his freshman year working as a reporter at the University's student newspaper, the Daily Orange. Tucker was also an avid performer and a member of two dramatic societies, Tambourine and Bones and Boar's Head; by his senior year he was vice president of the former and president of the latter.

After graduating, Tucker stayed involved with the University through the Alumni Association and helped bring back alumni for subsequent reunions. From 1958 to 1963, he acted as alumni president for the class of 1913 and then treasurer until 1968.

Earl W. Tucker died on November 5, 1994 in Syracuse, New York.
