Historical Note

The New York Zeta Chapter of Pi Gamma Mu was founded at Syracuse University in 1929 and is currently inactive. Pi Gamma Mu is a national honor society for students in the social sciences.


Scope and Content Note

The original charter for the New York Zeta Chapter of Pi Gamma Mu was signed on May 25, 1929. Charter members include: Nathan H. Blitman, Ernest R. Bryan, Leslie A. Bryan, Wilton P. Chase, Wilbur T. Clemens, Maurice Condit Cross, Marion Rosa Esmond, A.W. Dearlove, Henry R. Francis, Margaret Freehafer, Ruth Freeman, Samuel Greenberg, Henry Greenwald, Albert S. Hurst, Reuben L. Nye, Richard H. Hutchings, Herbert W. Lamb Jr., Conrad Joseph Lynn, K.C. Leebrick, Adick A. Longway, Hyman H. Lubin, J.J. McConnell, Abbie Newman, Iva Lowther Peters, E.D. Roe, Jr., George M. Price, Chauncey Rosensweig, Lester Schaff, Hurlburt W. Smith, Reuben W. Smith, Samuel Randolph Solomon, W.C. Waterman, and Earl L. Yates.
