The Syracuse Community Development Association was established in 1964 in Syracuse, New York. Its purpose was to help poorer segments of the population organize to better make their needs known to the community at large, and to assist them in becoming productive members of that community. Initial funding, obtained with the assistance of Syracuse University, came from the federal government's Office of Economic Development.
