Biographical History

Steven H. Scheuer is a movie and television historian and critic. He was the editor of Movies on TV (originally titled TV Movie Almanac & Ratings) which went through 17 editions between 1958 and 1993. The first guide of its kind (it preceded the still-active Maltin's TV Movies and Video Guide by ten years), the book contained a mixture of movies, videos and TV movies with ratings up to four stars.

Scope and Contents of the Collection

The Steven H. Scheuer Television History Interviews consists of interviews with various significant or influential movie and television personalities and is divided into audio interviews, video interviews, and transcripts. Audio interviews consists of 114 audiotaped interviews and Video interviews consists of 60 videotaped interviews. Transcripts comprises typed transcriptions of 147 of the interviews; audio interviews are followed by "(A)" and video interviews are denoted by "(V)." Some transcripts are incomplete; these are indicated in the inventory. Digital working copies consists of approximately 400 or so CDs and DVDs which contain digital versions of most, but not all, of the interviews and transcripts. Audio interviews, on CD, are in .cda format; video interviews are on DVD; transcripts are in Microsoft Word. The transcript CDs also include some other files of unidentified type and content.

The interviews were recorded as part of the Steven H. Scheuer Television History Collection Project at Syracuse University.
