Biographical History

Joseph Watson (1784-1841) was a lumber merchant, alderman and mayor of Philadelphia. He later served as president of the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company.


Scope and Contents of the Collection

The Joseph Watson Letters consist of roughly fifty pieces of incoming and outgoing correspondence. Writers and recipients include Henry Meyers, Jr., Lieutenant H. Henry, Joseph Tate (mayor of Richmond, Virginia), and others.
