1st. Resolved, That we recognize the broadest principles of democracy, and the right, irrespective of sex, or color, or character, to participate in the selection of civil rulers.

5th. Resolved, That the non-extension of slavery is a good doctrine of the Van Buren and Dix anti-abolition party: but that the Liberty Party doctrine of the abolition of slavery is infinitely better.
6th. Our Ticket is before you. We do not claim, that all our candidates are eminently qualified for their nominations. We have done the best we could in our very limited range of selection. Our proud vote of 180 was reduced, last Fall, to 40 ; and, even of the 40, there are a few, who still belong to Churches, which are responsibly connected with slavery ; and a few, also, who are still engaged in doing the farmer's share of the work of afflicting and cursing the world with intoxicating drinks. From neither of these classes did we feel at liberty to take candidates.
Whether our ticket shall, or shall not be elected, is for you to determine. In nominating it, we have not sought to please men, but to obey the Great Author of Civil Government, and to fall in with His revealed views of Civil Government. We add, that, in nominating it , we have discharged our sense of duty ; and that in supporting, or rejecting it, you will discharge yours.
