SPAFFORD's GAZETTEER.

PROPOSALS,

BY

H. C. SOUTHWICK,

FOR PUBLISHING BY SUBSCRIPTION,

A NEW AND COMPLETE

GAZETTEER

OF THE STATE OF NEW-YORK,
COMPRISING,

FIRST - A full and minute Geographical Description of the State at large ;

SECOND - A Brief Geographical Sketch of the several Counties, with a list of the several Towns, Cities, Villages, &c. within each County, in Alphabetical order; - And

THIRD - An ample description of each City, Town, Township, Village, &c. in the State, in Alphabetical order : forming a full and complete Gazetteer of the State, illustrated with a well executed Map.

BY H. G. SPAFFORD.

The whole entirely original, and founded on the latest and most authentic information, with the authorities given in the body of the work. More than 150 pages of the work is printed, and the whole will be ready to deliver to subscribers by the 1st> July next. Should the patronage warrant the expense, an elegant print of Niagara Falls, which with one or two other prints of interesting objects, will accompany the Work.

CONDITIONS.

It shall be correctly printed on fine white demy paper, with a new brevier type ; will contain about 350 pages, octavo, and will be delivered to subscribers, at $2 50, well bound and lettered.

Editors, Book-Sellers and Agents, will be allowed a discount of 10 per cent. on all money actually paid for the Gazetteer, in sums not exceeding 20 dollars, and the books delivered in Albany. - Subscriptions received by the Publisher, at the Register Book-Store, Faust's Statue, 73, State-street, Albany.

Albany, March 26, 1813.

The Publisher is aware that a former proposal for this Work, stated that it should be published in a duodecimo volume, and to be put to subscribers at $1 50 ; but he feels confident that few objections, if any, will be made to the present advance, when it is known that it has occupied the whole time of the Author, for more than two years, in collecting materials, writing and digesting the plan of this Work, independent of the enormous rise of printing materials, paper, &c.
