The Publisher is aware that a former proposal for this Work, stated that it should be published in a duodecimo volume, and to be put to subscribers at $1 50 ; but he feels confident that few objections, if any, will be made to the present advance, when it is known that it has occupied the whole time of the Author, for more than two years, in collecting materials, writing and digesting the plan of this Work, independent of the enormous rise of printing materials, paper, &c.
