Division 7 - Thermal and Moisture Protection

Section 07150 Below Grade Damproofing

image 1: Foundation damproofing.

The view is of the foundation wall and shows the final step in damproofing the basement foundation walls. Note the temporary protection required for maintaining the proper temperature above freezing. The heat supply is provided by temporary gas heaters which must be maintained during the complete application and curing process of the asphalt compound which is applied to the walls.

image 2: Backfilling the damproofed walls.

When completely cured, backfilling and compaction against the damproofing is allowable based on the strength of the concrete and design of the foundation wall. The backfill is the best protection for the damproofing membrane which might otherwise be exposed on a busy construction site.
