Ron Thiele is the Assistant Dean for Advancement at the Syracuse University Libraries. Prior to joining the Libraries in fall 2010, Ron spent over 40 years in the non-for-profit arts, engaged in arts management, development, and arts performance. Between 1997 and 2010, Ron was Executive Director of the Stanley Center for the Arts in Utica, NY, leading a $22 million renovation of the historic Stanley Theater. His previous experience includes 29 years at Oakland Ballet Company in Oakland, California, where he served in several positions, including co-artistic and associate artistic director, executive director, and, for over 25 years, principal dancer.
Ron holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from University of California at Berkeley and is working on a master's degree in liberal studies at Empire State College in New York. Ron has taught dance history courses at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY and at University of California at San Francisco. He has served on grants review panels for both the New York State and California Arts Councils.
