Daniel J. Rice is a Senior Information Technology Analyst in the Libraries' Information & Technology Services department. He brings over 25 years of IT experience in software development, process analysis, and user satisfaction delivery to the Syracuse University Libraries. As the lead analyst for the applications development group, Daniel is responsible for the architecture, design, and development of the various web applications and data integration services used by SU Libraries staff and patrons. Also, he is responsible for providing technology leadership to support the ever evolving and expanding digital requirements of today's modern library systems as well as helping to create collaborative partnerships with faculty and student researchers.
Having worked for the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science since 2002, Daniel is familiar with both higher education academic support and university research processes. He has developed and deployed software tools used in the classroom and participated on small and large scale research programs where his IT experience and skills played an important role in the team's success.
Prior to joining Syracuse University, Daniel held various management and technology positions at United Technologies Corporation, Carrier mostly in support of engineering product development teams.
Daniel holds a B.S. in mathematics from the United States Coast Guard Academy and an MBA from Purdue University's Krannert program.
