Dale E. King, Assistant Dean for Administration is one of the Library Senior Management Team directly reporting to the Dean of Libraries and has primary responsibility for all Administrative Functions of the department including, Budget, Accounting, Business Services, Personnel, Program Management, Facilities, Security, Purchasing and Mailing Services. Mr. King has been with Syracuse University since 2001 where he began in the Sponsored Accounting department of the Comptrollers Office. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting/Business Management from Southern New Hampshire University. King moved to Syracuse University after 30 years of service, he retired early from Onondaga County government, as Systems Accounting Manager, where he held several progressively challenging positions. In his roll in County government he instituted the first ever New York State Activity Based Cost Accounting System for the Departement of Transportation. He acted as local area network administrator and has taught classes on Microsoft Excel. He was elected in the 1980’s to two 3 year terms as President of CSEA Local # 834 AFSCME Local 1000 AFL/CIO representing 5,000 employees in Onondaga County and other municipalities in the County. He and his wife were awarded the Jefferson Award in the mid 1990’s for their work with disabled foster children. He is the proud father of eight of those children.
